Wedding dates can book a year or more in advance, especially during popular spring and fall weekends, so I always recommend reaching out as soon as you have your date and venue secured. That being said, there’s no such thing as “too late” to ask—if I’m available, I’d love to be there.

For engagements, couples, maternity, seniors, and other portrait sessions, you typically have a little more flexibility. I recommend reaching out at least a few weeks in advance, and even earlier if you need your photos by a specific date or are hoping for a weekend session.

How far in advance should we book?

Absolutely. I’m based in Raleigh, North Carolina, but I will happily pack my camera and go just about anywhere your story takes me.

Travel throughout North Carolina is included with my wedding collections, and I’m available for weddings, elopements, and sessions throughout the U.S. and beyond. Depending on the location, additional travel and accommodation costs may apply.

And if you’re planning a destination wedding, definitely reach out. I have special destination options for couples getting married outside of North Carolina, and there are even a few places on my bucket list that may come with some extra perks.

Do you travel?

Once you’re ready to make things official, the process is super simple. I’ll send everything you need electronically, including your contract, invoice, and payment options.

A signed contract and 25% non-refundable retainer are required to officially reserve your date. Until both have been completed, your date is still considered available to other clients.

For weddings, the remaining balance isn’t due until 30 days before your wedding, and payment plans are available if you’d rather break things up along the way. For regular sessions, the remaining balance is due one week before your session.

Once those first two things are checked off, you’re officially on my calendar—and then the fun stuff begins.

Life happens, and I completely understand that sometimes plans have to change. Your 25% retainer is non-refundable because it reserves your date and means I’ve turned away other potential bookings for that time.

If you need to cancel, the exact terms will depend on your session or wedding agreement and how close we are to the scheduled date. Any additional payments, rescheduling options, or remaining balances are handled according to the contract you sign when booking.

If something comes up, please reach out to me as soon as possible. I would always much rather have a conversation with you and figure out what options we have than leave you wondering what to do.

What is your cancellation policy?

Yes—especially when it comes to anything that affects your photos. I’ll help you build a photography-friendly timeline so we have enough time for getting ready, first looks, family and wedding party photos, couple portraits, sunset photos, and everything in between without the day feeling rushed.

That said, I always recommend having a planner or coordinator. If I’m managing vendors, tracking people down, and running the entire timeline, I’m being pulled away from the job you hired me to do—photograph your wedding.

I’m always happy to help where I can, but having someone dedicated to managing the day lets me stay focused on you, your people, and all the moments happening around you.

Do you help with wedding timelines and planning?

Absolutely. You’re not expected to know how all of this works, and I never want you to feel like you’re figuring it out alone.

Once you book, I’m here to help with things like locations, outfits, timing, lighting, logistics, and all the little questions that come up along the way. Every session also receives a guide specifically tailored to that session type, so the information you get actually applies to you.

Wedding couples receive even more support with questionnaires, timeline guidance, family photo planning, and photography-related decisions as the day gets closer.
